Art League of Hilton Head Gallery

Located at 14 Shelter Cove Ln, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928. Within the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, the Art League of Hilton Head Gallery features work by over 170 local and regional artists. It’s the area’s premiere venue for art exhibits, and provides a high level of community visibility. It’s also home to a weekly online class that’s open to all skill levels, a teaching academy, and a full schedule of visual arts programming.

Art League of Hilton Head was founded by Walter Greer, who met with nine local artists to discuss forming an art league on the island. The group now has membership of over 500 artists, and is working to strengthen the community by promoting education and partnerships. It’s also looking towards the future with plans for a 50th Anniversary gala in 2022.

This year, the Art League of Hilton Head is celebrating their 50th anniversary, and they’re excited to kick off the celebration with their annual birthday party. The Art League’s Academy is a place where people of all ages can learn how to draw and paint. The Academy is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm. They also host receptions at the Art League Gallery. They invite local artists to participate in the annual Invitational, where they are asked to donate a painting or other artwork that’s worth at least $200. If you’d like to enter, you’ll need to register online. The registration fee is $35, and all artwork entries must be submitted in one session.

The Art League also has a calendar for sale at their gallery. It includes historic photographs and a list of milestones throughout the history of the organization. The calendar also serves as a fundraiser, and it includes artwork by over thirty current members.
